WELCOME FROM OUR DIRECTORS & OFFICERS
Since the last Presidential election (aka the great disappointment), BCDA has grown to become the largest local Democratic organization in WV. Our meetings are very friendly and informative. Membership is open to all Democrats and Independents, liberals and conservatives, natives and newcomers. BCDA is the ideal place for civic-minded folks to plug in to all the campaigns, all the organizations, and all sorts Democratic activities. Thanks to the selfless commitment of our many members working within and outside BCDA, our members are recognized as Berkeley County's working army of Democrats.

Berkeley County Democratic Association is the portal for Democratic activism in Berkeley County, and the largest, fastest growing Democratic PAC in West Virginia. We are active Democrats of all ages, backgrounds, and viewpoints - engaged in some of the most important tasks on the political scene. If you are a Democrat or Independent and want to make a difference, please come to our next meeting (see place and times below). Working together, we can elect the best in 2008!! Together Everyone Achieves More.
BCDA's Purposeis to grow the Democratic Party in Berkeley County, to provide a large pool of supporters and volunteers for a wide range of projects and campaigns, to provide financial support for the general elections, and to optimize Democratic registration, Democratic voting and Democratic voter turnout in Berkeley County. BCDA Membership Application All Democrats and Independents are warmly invited to attend our meetings, apply for membership, participate, and be part of the solution. Dues are $5 (annual) or $100 (lifetime). Residency is not limited to WV. To view and print a Membership Application (pdf format) > CLICK HERE.
Scope and Legal Authority Each of the Democratic organizations plays a unique and important role in promoting democratic values. Unlike a political club, BCDA is empowered to make direct contributions to any state, county or local candidate, or any WV Democratic Executive Committee. Unlike the various Democratic Executive Committees, we are self-governing, and our membership is large and open to all men and women who are registered as Democrats or Independent. Our members are moderate, progressive, conservative, and liberal, representing a wide range of occupations, backgrounds, ages, and interests. In terms of paid up membership, BCDA is the largest local Democratic organization in West Virginia. Berkeley County Democratic Association is registered with the WV Secretary of State as a state level Political Action Committee (PAC). The activities of a state PAC, particularly regarding how money is collected and spent, are strictly regulated by State and Federal law. For regulatory information regarding BCDA, candidates, political organizations and activities in West Virginia, see the 2006 Guide to WV Campaign Finance (pages 16 through 19 are especially relevant). To view the specific contributions and expenditures of any donor, candidate, Executive Committee, or political organization, click here. Subject to applicable laws and regulations, BCDA operates according to bylaws adopted and approved by BCDA membership in 2007. Special Resources West Virginia Voting Rights (re-printable pdf file) This is a helpful, one page document that is describes some of the most common circumstances under which people are IMPROPERLY DENIED their right to vote, and how each citizen may PROTECT themselves from such abuse. This is not an official BCDA document. However, individuals may print and share this flyer as appropriate. BCDA Vision (re-printable pdf file) This short document describes a BCDA Vision for WV and Berkeley County and how concerned citizens may articulate this vision to others on six critical topics: 1) Honest and Open Government. 2) Security. 3) Energy Independence. 4) Economic and Educational Prosperity. 5) Health Care. 6) Retirement Security. Most West Virginians passionately share the positive and sensible vision described in this document, yet Republican party leaders continue to undermine the most fundamental needs of our citizens. It is time to put our people first and make it clear that West Virginia voters are NOT for sale! Although 'BCDA Vision' is not an official BCDA document, individuals may print and share this material as appropriate. Compliments to Tyler Oyler.
